Migration, Residential Mobility and Urban Structure
The research group MIGREMUS is part of the University of Bremen.
MIGREMUS stands for research in MIGration, REsidential Mobility and Urban Structure. This is the research profile of an interdisciplinary research group of at the University of Bremen.
Causes of migration, topics related to integration of immigrants, but also determinants and consequences of residential mobility and short-distance residential moves are investigated from different methodological perspectives. The outstanding and innovative concept is focused on changing urban structures which are considered at both ends of migration and mobility processes: urban context-characteristics shape decisions of short- distance residential mobility, for instance in terms des- and re-urbanization as well as gentrification. But changes in urban structures are also outcomes of migration and mobility, since larger urban areas are main destinations of international migration.
